Background
The Aoste Group is the result of successive mergers between companies of the sector.

The Aoste company becomes part of the Sara Lee group.
1998
Société Bretonne de Salaison becomes part of the Smithfield Foods group, followed some time later by the companies Jean d’Erguet, in Quimper, and Imperator, in Saint-Etienne.
2004
Jean Caby company, from SAINT ANDRE les LILLE, near Lille, joins the Société Bretonne de Salaisonen in 2003; the new group keeps the name of the Jean Caby group.
2006
Smithfield Foods acquires Aoste from Sara Lee, in partnership with the Oaktree investment fund. Aoste and Jean Caby merge to firm the Aoste Group.
